Description

Trucks transporting dangerous goods are not allowed to move freely on roads, because of the delicate cargo they carry, and because road transport is the riskiest type of transport, on traffic-intensive routes. The transport of dangerous goods is regulated by Royal Decree 551/2006 and the European Agreement on the Transport of Dangerous Goods by Road (ADR). These vehicles cannot circulate on the interurban public roads of Catalonia on the dates, times, and sections indicated in the annual resolutions on traffic restrictions of the SCT.

The term ADR comes from the French acronym "Accord Européen relatif au Transport International des Marchandises Dangereuses par Route".

In order to facilitate compliance with this resolution, the Servei Català de Trànsit offers the transporters a route calculator for the transport of dangerous goods, to consult the recommended itinerary on the XIMP network, in which Nexus Geographics collaborated.

The calculator allows:

  • To obtain itineraries in a dynamic way, taking into account road restrictions, tunnels and prohibited stretches, obligations derived from the XIMP and temporary restrictions according to the expected date of travel.
  • The result of the consultation is the route proposed by the Servei Català de Trànsit, taking into account the different alternatives and criteria weighted by its technicians.
  • The obtained route can be downloaded in PDF, ITN and GPX format; Formats both for print and to upload to a GPS. It is also possible to save it, obtaining a consultation number to retrieve the route from a mobile phone, through the web page http://ximp.gencat.cat, which is 100% responsive (fully adapted to mobile devices).

Servei Català de Trànsit is the manager of traffic and road safety in Catalonia (over 32.000Km2 and a 2.000Km road network). A total of 295 people work in this organization.
